Back to School with Perfectlinens.com

August 07, 2017

It's a bittersweet time of year: the warm nights are coming to a close, and we find ourselves wondering how to squeeze every last bit of summer into just a few more weeks.

Perhaps the biggest challenge is getting our families back to a normal sleep schedule. When the alarm clock sounds that first day of school, we regret staying up to roast that last marshmallow! Sleep is important for a successful school year and Perfectlinens.com can help you enjoy those precious sleeping hours.

The National Sleep Foundation suggests we start transitioning back to the school year sleep schedule two weeks before school starts. Pushing up bedtime incrementally over two weeks is an easier transition than a sudden, drastic change. Once your school year routine is established,  stick to it! Also suggested: limit electronics and screen time before bed. Ahem... that's for you and the children!  And have a peaceful bedroom environment for your child, including a comfortable night-time temperature... not too hot, not too cold.  Whether you or your children need sheets to stay cool or sheets to stay warm, we have you covered!

Teens are not meant to stay up all night. According to the National Sleep Foundation, teens need 8 to 10 hours of sleep per night. So when they find themselves staying up til all hours this school year to cram for exams, it's important to make sleep a priority! And a great set of comfortable sheets is soothing to even the most sleep deprived youth.

A popular sheet set for teens is Second Skin. They're exceptionally durable, comfortable, and naturally anti-bacterial (when they crash after soccer practice but before hitting the showers). Plus, they come in a variety of colors so your teen stays on trend.

For a warmer sleep experience, Toastmaster is the super cozy alternative.  Twin Extra Long sheets for college dorms, too!  Ultra durable and easy to launder, there are 14 colors from which to choose.

Sleepbetter.org offers many suggestions for a successful school sleep routine. Make sure all homework and chores are done well before bedtime -- waiting until the last minute causes kids' brains to be frazzled and they're less able to relax at bedtime. Also recommended: institute bedtime stories for the whole family. Whether you're reading The Berenstain Bears to your first grader, or Harry Potter to your middle schooler, books (not screens) help children to relax before bedtime. Finally, Sleepbetter.org recommends doing a bedding check for everyone: now's a great time to replace those department store sheets that haven't held up. Our Supercale™ sheets offer a crisp cool feel with unparalleled percale sheet smoothness.  Plus they're no-iron!

Whether mourning the loss of summer or looking forward to the school year ahead, make the transition easier with a new set of sheets and a new sleep schedule.  Invest in quality sheets for quality sleep. Your family deserves the best school year yet!
